Relative-Value Tables

The Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS) lists a large number of items a community should have to fight fires effectively. The Schedule assigns credit points for each item. Using those credit points and various formulas, ISO calculates a total FSRS score on a scale of 0 to 100.

This page will help you understand how adding certain pieces of equipment will affect your community's FSRS score.

FSRS Tables 512.A, 544.A, and 544.B list equipment for which you can get credit, together with the number of credit points you can get per unit of equipment and the total number of credit points available for each item. For example, in Table 512.A, you'll find that you need a 300-gallon booster tank. The table shows that you get 1 credit point for each 10 gallons of capacity in your booster tank. You can get up to a total of 30 credit points if you have the full 300-gallon tank.

Similarly, you need 200 feet of booster hose. You get 3 points for each 50 feet, up to a total of 12 points if you have the full 200 feet.

If you have all the items in Table 512.A, you can get a maximum of 654 credit points. What does that mean for your FSRS score?

In the following table, you'll see that the maximum effect for all items from Table 512.A — if you were to get all 654 available credit points — would be to add 10.00 points to your FSRS score. The effect of adding any one item from Table 512.A is in proportion. For example, if you were to get the full 30 credit points for a 300-gallon booster tank, you could get 4.59% of the 10.00 points added to your FSRS score (because 30 ÷ 654 = 4.59%). So for the booster tank, you could get a maximum of 0.46 points added to your FSRS score (because 10.00 x 4.59% = 0.46, rounded to two decimal places).

The following tables show the same calculation for all the equipment listed in Tables 512.A, 544.A, and 544.B.
