Fall 2011

Fall 2011
Welcome to Community Fire Protection News...

Welcome to Community Fire Protection News, ISO’s online newsletter for concise and topical fire protection information, tips for navigating ISO websites, relevant industry news, and more. In this issue, we honor the memory of the lives lost in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001.

The fire scenario in this month’s “You Make the Call” section centers on warehouse fires. Let us know your fireground answers, and be sure to look at the responses from the fire scenario in our last issue. Also, please explore our other features and links.

A community’s investment in fire mitigation is a proven and reliable predictor of future fire losses. Virtually all property/casualty insurers in the United States use ISO’s Public Protection Classifications for a variety of marketing and underwriting purposes, generally offering lower premiums to property owners in communities with better fire protection. By offering economic benefits to communities that invest in firefighting services, the program provides a unique incentive for improving and maintaining public fire protection. In the battle against property loss, fire department officials can be confident that ISO is an objective source for information and technical support.
