Fall 2013

Fall 2013
Welcome to Community Fire Protection News...

Welcome to Community Fire Protection News, our online newsletter for fire chiefs and insurers. We provide concise and topical fire protection information, relevant community mitigation and insurance news, and more.

CFP News is a joint publication of ISO, a member of the Verisk Analytics Family of Companies, and Verisk Insurance Solutions – Commercial Property. In this issue, you’ll learn how ISO and Verisk work to foster community fire protection and promote stronger building codes — benefiting insurers and communities. Our collaborations with the U.S. Fire Administration, the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, and the International Association of Fire Chiefs help us maintain an open dialogue among the fire service, building code officials, and insurers.

We felt especially privileged to recently host the International Fire Service Leaders Symposium at our Jersey City headquarters. Read about the symposium and how we stay on top of key issues in community fire protection. Be sure to view our “You Make the Call” video, which shows how fire affects a commercial building of lightweight truss construction. And take note of our Insurers’ Report column, where we give you the startling results of a hazard mitigation study and the effects on total losses.

In the battle against property loss, fire department officials around the country can be confident that ISO is an objective source for information and technical support, and insurers can rest assured that Verisk will provide them with the services and tools they need to remain competitive.
